editor, Friday Review, Australian Financial Review, Sydney, Australia
Lamberton was born in Sydney, Australia and attended the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism studies. His first journalism job was as a reporter for the Canberra Times in 1989; he later worked as an editor and political reporter for that newspaper, focusing on state and federal government. In 1995, he joined The Australian Financial Review as a senior subeditor, later working as a production editor and in 1998, became editor of the Review section of the Financial Review. The section, unique in the Australian media, is a weekly essay and book review section that has evolved into an intellectual clearing house of ideas and debate. The section, which takes on national and international issues, aims to expand its emphasis on Asia and the Pacific.
