JSK 10th Alumni Reunion & Conference this July

Dear JSK Fellowships Alumni,

We are delighted to welcome you back to the Stanford campus this July for the 10th John S. Knight Fellowships Alumni Reunion & Conference!

Mark your calendar now: The dates are July 12-15, 2023.

This 10th reunion feels even more special, as we were not able to come together in person during the worst of the pandemic, when we originally planned to hold the reunion.

The campus is just as beautiful as when you were here – and there’s something magical about having fellows back at Stanford in person from across the years and across the miles. More than 1,000 people from more than 80 countries have been journalism fellows at Stanford since that first Class of 1967. We hope that you will consider attending – and encourage your fellow classmates to attend as well. (There will be a prize for the class with the most attendees!)

The reunion and conference will feature discussions on current issues in journalism, opportunities for JSK alumni to talk about their work in journalism, and of course, plenty of time to socialize and reconnect over meals and free time.

Look for more information about the JSK 10th Reunion and Conference in our monthly JSK Connect alumni newsletters. Hope to see you here!

Is the reunion in person or virtual?

The reunion will be in person on the Stanford campus. We are exploring the possibility of recording a few sessions.

Who can attend the reunion?

Registered JSK alumni, their spouses/partners, and their children may attend.
NOTE: While children are invited to all meals, the conference portion of the reunion is only for alumni and their spouses/partners. JSK cannot provide childcare, per Stanford regulations.

I have special accessibility requirements, how can I participate?

All reunion events will be held on the ground floor of The Frances C. Arrillaga Alumni Center, a spacious venue on campus with a nice outdoor garden that is wheelchair accessible. If you need mobility assistance or have any special accessibility requirements, please reach out to the JSK office at jskfellowships@stanford.edu. We want to make sure that everyone can participate fully and comfortably.

What are the guidelines for international fellows to enter the U.S.?

Review the current CDC guidelines for requirements to enter the U.S. from your country. If you need a visa to enter the U.S., you may request an invitation letter by contacting JSK Associate Director Djordje Padejski at padejski@stanford.edu.

I’m traveling from out of the area for the reunion. When should I plan to arrive and depart?

To give alumni enough time to arrive and settle in, we suggest you plan to be in the area on Wednesday, July 12. We’ll have a late afternoon opening reception. Reunion registration starts at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12. The last reunion event is a closing lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 15.

Will there be time for class get-togethers?

Yes! We’ve left plenty of free time in the schedule during the reunion for you to meet up with classmates, alumni, and participate in other activities. For example, there will be no events after 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 13, so that evening would be an excellent time for class get-togethers.

How much will it cost to attend the reunion?

The registration fee is $200 for each JSK fellowship alum, plus $100 if you would like to bring your family (spouse, partner or children).

Will there be a discounted hotel option for the reunion?

We have a room block reserved at the Stanford Guest House. You will receive the hotel discount code once you register for the reunion. The Sheraton Palo Alto Hotel block is now sold out.

How will JSK handle COVID-19 precautions during the reunion?

We are following COVID-19 safety protocols set by Stanford, Santa Clara County, and the State of California. Everyone is encouraged to do their part to keep the community and themselves as safe as possible.
