Andrés Cediel

Andrés Cediel is an Emmy-award winning investigative journalist, documentary filmmaker, and educator. Primarily publishing with the PBS programs FRONTLINE, POV and VOCES, his work has focused on immigration, trafficking, human rights, and climate change. 

Cediel produced two films about the abuse of undocumented women in the agricultural and janitorial industries. Both investigations sparked legislative change in California and increased protections for workers. Currently he is directing a film with the Jingle Dress Project promoting healing through art while raising awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. 

Cediel has also been honored with the RFK Grand Prize for Journalism, the Scripps Howard Award for Investigative Reporting, two duPont-Columbia Journalism awards, and nominated for a Peabody. He was previously a professor in residence at UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism, and is currently the 2026 Buffet Foundation Visiting Professor of Visual Journalism at ASU’s Cronkite School of Journalism.
