Krista Almanzan

Krista Almanzan is alumni initiatives lead at the John S. Knight Journalism Fellowships. She steers the day-to-day work of alumni initiatives, programming, community engagement, and events across the JSK alumni network. She develops opportunities for JSK alumni to connect, learn, and further their journalism careers. She builds early relationships with fellows during their fellowship year and works with them to develop and edit their writing about fellowship work.

She is known for working with people to craft stories, understand their audiences and create meaningful conversations through journalism, podcasts, live events and workshops. She began her journalism career in local news working in commercial television and public radio. Her reporting and editing has earned National Edward R. Murrow Awards, among other honors. She maintains her connection to local news as an editor with the Public Media Journalists Association’s Editor Corps. 

Krista has a bachelor's degree from Northeastern University where she double majored in communications and journalism. She was a 2020 JSK Journalism Fellow and, as 2021 JSK Senior Journalism Fellow, she experimented at the intersection of audio innovation and local news.
